There is pretty much always some kind of deal for BOTOX, lasers or cosmetic procedures on discount sites like Groupon, but often times these are at spas or medispas done by a regular nurse or other employee without a physician in attendance. This is only a step above the “Botox Parties” that so often end in disaster.

Why is it so important to have a trained specialist when having a cosmetic procedure done on your skin?

*These procedures are typically aesthetic (on your face or other often exposed areas of skin), so a botched procedure is visible to all and more often than not have no easy fix

*They may contain ingredients which are perfectly safe when used properly, but when used improperly can lead to damage

*On the wrong setting, a laser can burn and cause potentially long-term damage.

For these reasons and more, it is HIGHLY recommended to see a board certified dermatologist at a medical clinic for your cosmetic procedure. Board Certified means that the physician has a license to practice, has passed the official board certification exams (retaken every several years), is fully accredited by a national organization or society, and continues his/her education at conferences and meetings. This is the level of excellence & expertise that you should want when someone is injecting your face, so don’t let just anyone do these types of procedures on you.
