This month, our blog series is called Love, Your Skin and will focus on different ways to show your skin some love, from head to toe!
The age-old saying “A little goes a long way” certainly applies to skin care. Sometimes people want the effects sooner, so they will use more product than recommended in the hopes of accelerating the results. Other people will simply use more products to try and fix everything all at once. Show your skin some love by listening to the above saying – a little goes a long way.
Don’t Use Too Much Product
If the directions say a pea-sized amount, don’t use a grape sized amount. Chances are that this will not help you see results faster and will only cost you more money as you run through product. The recommended sizing amounts take into account how much of the ingredient skin can/will absorb at one time and how much will cause skin irritation. Applying more is often like dumping product down the drain or may even cause rashes or dryness. Using too much product may even cause a different skin problem. Too much skin oil may clog your pores. Too much shampoo may leave unnecessary residue. Try to follow the recommendations as much as possible.
You Do Not Need a Million Products
We sell multiple products not in hopes of encouraging every person to buy every product, but rather because different products work better for different people. Do not feel required, whether at our office or your favorite store’s skincare aisle, to buy absolutely every product. You should select a few products targeted to the areas of most concern to you. The skin can only absorb but so much at a time; more than one serum applied in the same area at the same time is likely to be ineffective and unnecessarily expensive. We recommend a cleanser, toner, one serum and one moisturizer per application. You may, of course, choose to apply a separate eye cream or neck cream, as these are separate and specialized areas.
