Our January Blog Series focuses on common moisturizing skin care ingredients! Find out more about what is in your products.
What is it?
Glycerin is a moisturizing ingredient that is found in a variety of products from body soap to hand cream. It naturally occurs in vegetable oil but may also be created/isolated chemically.
What does it do?
As a humectant, glycerin absorbs water from its surrounding environment. This makes it a wonderful moisturizer for the skin. Glycerin strengthens and improves the skin’s natural skin barrier and also helps skin cells to grow and mature correctly, which makes it a common ingredient in products for certain skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
It works best for:
*Dry Skin – highly effective moisturizer
*Psoriasis – encourages skin cells to mature properly & helps with cell repair
*Eczema – strengthens the skin’s natural barrier
